M44 is better known as the
Beehive Cluster, an open
star cluster over 500 light years distant. Much farther away is
another open star cluster, M67.
Other Deep Sky Objects
G 51-15 is a
nearby neighbour of the Sun. Lying at a distance of nearly 12 light years,
it shines at a feeble fifteenth magnitude.

- Tegmine is the brightest component of a multiple
star. A small telescope will show two objects but the brighter one
is actually a binary.
